Scientific and artistic research takes place at a number of institutes and research centers and encompasses a wide range of disciplines and fields of research in the humanities, cultural studies, social sciences, and natural sciences, which are constantly interacting with the development and exploration of the arts (EEK).
At the mdw, the socio-political dimension of knowledge transfer is at the forefront. Cultural entrepreneurship and health care, diverse offerings in music education and community engagement with business and cultural organizations, as well as career development and job profiles in the cultural sector are important fields of activity for the mdw and its members. The Institute for Cultural Management and Gender Studies (Master's in Cultural Management), the Career Center, the Center for Continuing Education, and the Graduate Center enable continuing education and skills development in these areas.
