Founding date - How long have you been working on your idea?
01.01.2020
Founding triggers: How did you come up with the idea?
As part of an entrepreneurship class during my semester abroad, we took an in-depth look at the clothing industry and the second-hand sector. At the same time, I am a second-hand fashion enthusiast myself. The aim was to start a new, scalable project in the second-hand sector.
Founding moment: How did you know that you wanted to realize your idea?
I've had the urge to found a startup since I was very young. For me, it was just a question of finding the right time. The moment I was able to convince my best friend to co-found the project, there was no turning back for me.
Elevator pitch of your project:
In short: Uptraded is the Tinder for your closet. We offer our users the cheapest and most sustainable way to keep their closet up to date in a fun way. Our app can be explained in three simple steps: 1. upload unused clothes. 2. swipe through the clothes of others (right = like; left = dislike) 3. if two users like each other, a "fit" is created and a chat function opens, which can be used to conveniently complete the swap. This makes us the first platform to offer an efficient bartering experience.
Elevator pitch about yourself:
My name is Bruno. Ex - economics student. 23 years old/young. Interested in entrepreneurship since childhood. Driven by the urge to make the world a little bit better.
How many of you are in the founding team and how did you come together?
Originally 3, now 2. We met during our studies.
University:
Management Center Innsbruck/Uni Innsbruck
How did your university support you when it came to founding and entrepreneurship?
We were allowed to work on our own company during the compulsory practical semester.
Do's: What would you recommend to any founder, or what would you do again?
Team First! (Team must fit 100% - be honest with yourself)
Don`ts: What would you do differently? What was your biggest learning?
I would probably do most things differently. Biggest learning: You learn extremely much, extremely fast, extremely hard.
How to start? - What would you recommend to anyone interested in starting a business?
Standard quote, because it's somehow right: Just try it! What really helps: Talk to lots of people who have experience in the field. You don't usually need money or anything like that to validate an idea - so you don't have much to lose.
