About the ECN

The Entrepreneurship Center Network (ECN) is Austria's cross-institutional network for entrepreneurship. It connects universities so that founding at higher education institutions becomes visible, connected and accessible.

Who we are here for

For the entrepreneurship teams of our institutions, who exchange ideas, learn from each other and develop joint initiatives. And for everyone who wants to found: students, researchers, alumni and staff. We provide an overview of the support available at Austria's universities and help with the first step.

Our story

2012: The start in Vienna

ECN is founded on the initiative of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at WU Vienna to raise awareness for entrepreneurship and build cross-university connections. Six Viennese universities join: Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, MedUni Vienna, TU Wien, BOKU, Vetmeduni Vienna and WU Vienna.

2014: Entrepreneurship Avenue

Together with SIMConnect, the flagship program is launched. Today it is one of the largest entrepreneurship event series for students.

2020: A new focus on all of Austria

The focus shifts to nationwide, cross-institutional networking. Universities and universities of applied sciences from all federal states join.

Today: 36 member institutions

Regular exchange, an annual conference and a shared voice towards politics and funding bodies.

The coordination team

There are contact persons at all universities in the ECN if you are interested in start-ups and entrepreneurship. You can find the contact persons at the respective university.  A team of five is responsible for coordinating the ECN and its activities. We look forward to getting in touch with you.
