Founded in 841 in the name of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, many important graduates continue to shape culture and business to this day. The university's genius loci is also still inherent today: it is an artistic beacon and intellectual freedom, a place of creativity and lived diversity.
With over 700 public events a year - from concerts, operas and theatre to exhibitions and performances - the Mozarteum University makes a substantial contribution to the quality of life in the cultural cities of Salzburg and Innsbruck, which benefit from its international appeal. In addition, numerous national and international co-operations guarantee a high standard of teaching and research and open up networks for students, teachers and researchers for the future.
Thanks to the many internationally renowned lecturers, well-equipped concert halls and theatres, stages and workshops as well as the proximity to other universities and top-class collaborations with international ensembles, museums, orchestras, institutions and cultural organisers, young talents find an excellent environment with its finger on the pulse, which promotes their skills, creativity, curiosity and networking - and thus contributes to their personal development as well as to a future-oriented society worth living in.
