For over 325 years, the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna has been one of the most important international educational institutions for artists and the most traditional art university in Austria. Based on its leading position in Central Europe, the Academy is oriented towards high quality standards and compares itself with the best art universities in the world in order to attract teachers and students from all regions of the world. With the Picture Gallery and the Museum of Prints and Drawings, the Academy is also home to two of the most important collections in Austria.
The Knowledge Transfer Center of the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien
In recent years, the Knowledge Transfer Center of the Akademie is increasingly concerned with the area of "artistic independence": Among other things, the Academy has developed the Post-Grad Life program, an information, workshop and discourse format that promotes exchange between art universities and their graduates and highlights various challenges after graduation. The academy also offers numerous further education formats for the professionalization of artistic independence. Together with the IG Bildende Kunst and the amlumni association, regular lectures are held on social insurance, tax and the Artists' Social Insurance Fund (KSVF). As project manager of the Transfer HUBs of the Knowledge Transfer Center East, the Academy implements, for example, the Crowdfunders' Hub training program on alternative financing options. There is also a special focus on the topic of "Impact of Arts", which aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and "Open Arts", in which open innovation methods and artistic-creative practices are implemented in inter- and transdisciplinary projects.
