Patent

A patent is a legal protection of intellectual property that is commercially applicable, e.g. an invention. The person who holds the right may dispose of the use and sale of the intellectual property. In German-speaking countries, the term is used for the protection of technical inventions. In the English-speaking world, however, there are two types. The "utility patent" is a property right for technical inventions and the "design patent" protects shapes and designs.
